Valve has released the new Linux srcds, so WP is now open for business on TF2 Beta!
The first two matches of the Wireplay CS:S Mini Tournament have now taken place. Both were very entertaining games for players and audience alike. Lookout for the dates of the remaining two first round matches!

The teams have signed up, the fixtures have been drawn – it’s show time! The first match for the Wireplay CS:S Mini Tournament will take place tonight, followed by the second tomorrow night. It looks like we are in for a closely fought contest with lots of twists and turns, so we have thrown in a Source TV server for your viewing pleasure!

By: groovyf (spam@groovyf.co.uk) — The highly awaited modification for Half-Life 2 called Fortress Forever is finally with us. It’s based on the HL1 mod Team Fortress Classic and although not a direct port, has many of the features of TFC but with new additions for some of the classes weapons-wise and also has had some general gameplay tweaks. It’s been a long journey for the developers since the idea for this game mod was first brainstormed over back in 2003.
The Fortress Forever Developers have announced: “These next few months are going to be great for TF fans and halflife2 gamers alike. It is with great pleasure that we announce Fortress Forever will be released on September 13th, and of course it will be free to all halflife 2 owners . The game will release with 10 core maps featuring 6 different game modes centering around capture the flag, and capture and defend gameplay. Spread the word and get ready for action!”
By: b0nes (b0nes@wireplay.co.uk) — With the imminent arrival of Team Fortress 2, it seems the Fortress Forever team have stepped up to the challenge to release before the eagerly awaited valve replacement for TFC.
Beta testing of FF has been going on for some time and we have been assured that it will be out before the end of the month. Head over to the Fortress Forever Website for more info.
With sign ups now closed for Wireplay’s well received return to hosting competitive Counterstrike events, attention has turned to the round 1 draw.
Rather than quickly pulling names out of a hat, it was decided to give the honour of drawing the round 1 fixtures to an individual not associated with the competition, but who had contributed to Wireplay in the past. Enter Dave Carter, also known by many as FiRe. Dave was formerly the Community Liaison for Wireplay Counterstrike and here are the round 1 fixtures he drew:
Wireplay’s Freelancer community, the longest standing Freelancer Community to date, has entered the modded games scene by launching a second server running a premium quality mod of the game.

This five a side tournament for around eight clans is now in its sign up stage, which runs until the end of August. The victorious clan will receive a special prize, to be announced soon.

The groundbreaking announcement was made public today with a brief outline of some of the features planned, along with a few teasers. Further details will be made available during the course of the development which is expected to take at least three months.
