Fortress Forever 2.0 Released

Today has seen the highly anticipated release of Fortress Forever 2.0.  For those who’ve never heard about Fortress Forever, it is a free mod produced by the Fortress Forever team for the Half Life 2 Source Engine.  The mod is an adaptation of Team Fortress Classic for the modern era.  The only requirement to play is you simply require the Source SDK to be installed within the tools section of steam.  You should have the source sdk if you’ve purchased a source engine based valve game.

The Fortress Forever team appear to have been very busy with version 2.0 featuring in excess of 100 improvements from the previous v1.11.  For a full list of changes why not take a visit to the fortress forever website at http://www.fortress-forever.com/.

Currently patches are available for existing v1.11 users with a full 2.0 client release to follow.  For current v1.11 users you can simply download the patch to update your installation.  Patch is available from us at:

For new users eager to play, currently you’ll need to firstly download and install version 1.11.  To download visit http://www.fortress-forever.com/wiki/Downloads and pick a mirror from section ‘I need to download the whole mod!’.  Then, simply download the update and install that.

My Horse and Me will present gamers and horse fans with a realistic and immersive representation of the world of equestrian sports. The title also benefits from an exclusive International Equestrian Federation license.

Atari claims the game features the most accurate horse models and animations yet seen in a video game. Players will enter into competitions, go riding for fun and even be tasked with caring for their horse.

Layman’s credentials include written work for several Marcel comics, including Gambit, House of M: Fantastic Four and Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness. He ha also written for several games, including Metroid Prime: Hunters for Nintendo DS and Marvel Trading Card Game for PSP.

Gears of War and UT3 coming to Mac

Following recent news that EA is to bring a selection of its high profile titles to Mac, it’s been revealed that two of the PC’s most anticipated titles will also release on Mac.

Speaking to Geoff Keighley of Spike TV’s Game Head, Epic Games vp Mark Rein revealed that Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3 will be released for the Mac format.

Gears PC Achievements separate to Xbox 360

Gamerscoreblog has confirmed that Gears of War for PC will fully support DirectX 10 in Windows Vista, but will also be compatible with Windows XP out of the box, unlike many of Microsoft’s recent offerings (Halo 2 and Shadowrun).

Gears for PC will also feature Games for Windows LIVE and, while not supporting cross platform play, will offer 1000 Gamerscore points and a bunch of Achievements. The good news is these Achievements are entirely new so even if you’ve played through the Xbox 360 game there’ll be something new.

Garry Schyman scores BioShock

Schyman’s earlier work includes The A-Team and Magnum P.I. and has more recently scored several video games including Destroy All Humans! And Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers.

PES 2008 playable at Games Convention in Leipzig

Konami’s stand at Games Convention in Leipzig will be home to a playable version of PES 2008 for PlayStation 3, the first time the general games playing public will be able to get their hands on the title. Visitors of Games Convention will also have the opportunity to play the game on PC, Xbox 360 and more.

In addition to PES 2008, Konami will be showcasing dozens of other titles including Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles and Silent Hill Origins for PSP.

NCsoft Europe and ArenaNet have today announced that the pre-release bonus pack for Guild Wars: Eye of the North will hit retailers on July 20.

This pack will be offered to those who pre-order the game and grant them access to the Sneak Peek Weekend which will take place August 24-26, 2007. This special event will enable Guild Wars players to log into the game for a first look at Eye of the North. Players will be able to explore the Far Shiverpeaks region of the world, with everything gained during the weekend carrying over to when the game official launches.

Lost Planet patch arrives July 20

As we reported yesterday, Capcom is gearing up to release a hefty sounding update for Lost Planet on PC. Today we can confirm that the update will be released on July 20 and will auto download when players load up the game.

New features include new playable characters, Frank West of Dead Rising, Joe from Lost Planet and Mega Man. The update will also include several new view modes, including a Resident Evil 4 style view and a new Wide view. Multiplayer will also be updated and a movie mode will enable players to watch the in-game story sequences back-to-back.

The MMO genre is now really big business, with millions of subscribers paying monthly subs to log-on to their favourite digital world.

MapleStory from Nexon Group is a little different though, offering an MMO experience without the cost of a monthly sub. The game launched in South Korea in April 2003 and has gone on to achieve more than 67 million registered users across Asia and North America.

Ball-rolling puzzle game for PC and Xbox 360

Sierra Online has announced that its already available PC puzzle title, Switchball, is to make the transition to Xbox LIVE Arcade.

Switchball is an intricate puzzle game set in a 3D world and sees players taking control of an ever-changing ball which must be guided through suspended courses. Each stage is packed with obstacles, traps and mazes and players will also need to morph the ball with other properties in order to complete each area.

Developed by Southend, Commanders: Attack! will see players going head-to-head in tactical warfare, utilising missile launchers, bombers and infantry to take out enemy defences and conquer the land.

Either take on the game’s 15 mission campaign mode set across three different landscapes or battle against three friends in local and online multiplayer. Multiplayer game types include Versus, Team Play, Player vs. CPU and same-system Skirmish.

More info on Sierra’s upcoming Battlestar Galactica title have trickled their way out of E3. The top-down space combat game sees players sign up to defend the Galactiica or play as the ruthless Cylons as they seek to eradicate the human race.

The game’s single-player campaign will require players to take command of various ships and complete memorable missions as seen in the television series.
