The BioShock score has been composed in various styles of early twentieth century writing, with the music at times chilling and at other times beautiful and poignant.

Schyman’s earlier work includes The A-Team and Magnum P.I. and has more recently scored several video games including Destroy All Humans! And Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers.

"BioShock is a composer’s dream project; I have never been offered such a unique palette to write for," said Garry Schyman. "I really pushed myself to create a score that truly complements the extraordinary experience of BioShock and Irrational Games supported me all the way. I even had the opportunity to write a solo piano work in the style of late Rachmaninoff!"

Ken Levine, Creative Director at Irrational Games, is full of praise for Schyman’s work, noting: "It’s kind of hard to imagine BioShock without Garry’s music. It just wouldn’t be the same game."

The score has been recorded with a live orchestra at historic Capitol Studios in Hollywood and features a solo violin, cello and piano performances.

BioShock is scheduled for release across the US on August 21, with a worldwide release to follow on August 24.
