id Software co-founder John Carmack was at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco to demo his company’s new engine, id Tech 5.
"
Since many developers at id have made the switch to the Mac for their personal use, we decided it was now time to bring our core game technology to OS X," said Carmack. "
We were able to put this together fairly quickly, which speaks highly of the Mac platform."
After a brief demonstration of the new engine, Carmack concluded by informing the audience that id Software’s new title will be unveiled at E3 and will be running on PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Mac. Another Mac-related announcement is also promised at some time between E3 and the 2007 QuakeCon convention.
