In a recent interview Miyamoto said, "
I could make Halo. It’s not that I couldn’t design that game. It’s just that I choose not to". This comment, which is also likely to have lost something in translation, appears to have aggravated the guys and gals at Bungie.
Speaking to
Joystiq, Bungie’s Frank O’Connor has hit back at the legendary video game creator, although they seem largely tongue-in-cheek.
"
I just want to go on the record and say that Bungie is hard at work on a side-scrolling platform game featuring some plumbers - I’m not going to say what their ethnicity is, it’s none of anyone’s business," said O’Connor. "
We took [his comments] as a gauntlet, a sort of glove slap, and we’re going to respond in 2D scrolling style. That’s all I’m saying."
In other Bungie related news, the highly anticipated Halo 3 beta begins on May 16 and if you can’t wait to play then you might want to take a look at our
Halo 3 hands-on preview.
